Nia Lederle, Young People and Families Manager for Arthritis Care has recently been working on developing a service for Young People with Arthritis living in Wales. Nia has been working with young volunteers who have arthritis themselves in developing a North Wales group with meetings taking place in the Llandudno area. The aim of the group is to provide support, information and an opportunity for young people with arthritis or similar conditions to get together.
In September the group had a great day out when they all had a go at skiing. This was something that no member of the group had done before and thought that they would not be able to do. But with a supportive instructor and plenty of time the group had a great time. Having a go on the snow tubes was also such a fun part of the day.
On Saturday December 5th the group have organised a ‘Me and My Condition workshop.’ Ran by North Wales Health the workshop will aim to inform all about what emotional wellbeing is, coping mechanisms and how to take control, as well as a fun activity on how to relax.
Contact a Family Cymru will also be running a session for parents at the same time, providing information about their service and helpful skills when meeting education / health / social care professionals.
The workshop will start at 11:00 and run until 1:00pm where lunch will then be served. There is no cost to attending the workshop and session and having lunch.
