National Playday is a UK wide celebration of children’s play and happens each year on the first Wednesday in August. Each year has a different theme and full details on upcoming campaigns can be found online at www.playday.org.uk.
This year National Playday will be held on Wednesday 5th August 2015 in Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay between 12 and 4pm. The event is completely free.
Numerous local organisations and council departments come together to plan National Playday in Conwy to ensure that a wide range of play opportunities are made available.
Play opportunities include den building, rope swings, sand and water, messy play, cardboard box city, big bubbles, painting, boat building, pond dipping and our ENORMOUS water slide.
The focus of the events is on children directing their own play and adults are encouraged to allow play to continue without getting too involved. Children will have supervised access to tools, den building, mud and water play supervised by trained playworkers – but PLEASE expect them to get WET and MUDDY.
National Playday is ‘open access’ meaning children can come and go as they please. Parents are advised to attend; under 8’s must be supervised.
